The 1st thing I heard on KSL at 6:00 was 39 degrees. I keep wanting warm but it only seems to blow on cold mornings so maybe cold is good. When I got to the campground the dash temp was showing 46 degrees and it dropped to 43 when the windline hit. It was way windier than anyone expected but this isn’t that unusual for a day-before-the-event for Grants. I put on both a hoody and a ski coat and rigged the 7.0 in a flash. I was way powered up and rigged the 6.0 after 20 minutes (I got picked up by a wild gust and almost hit the wall in a flash of dike-fright). It was already everything I could handle on the 6.0 reaching 28g30 in the middle of the sesh. If I hadn’t been on a full race 86L board I would have been re-rigging again. Wild screaming reaches until 11:00. Then back to the 7.0 and the 115 board for more fully powered rides until noon. Sweet, wild morning. 3 events last week and 2 already this week starting to beat me down. Injured ribs and neck from wild crash Tuesday, injured arm from sail getting ripped out of hand (also Tuesday), and wearing carpal wrist splints every night. It will be interesting to see what I have left tomorrow for the “main event”. I sailed alone as John was tied up and everyone else must be waiting for the “event” tomorrow. Wore a hood but did fine in my wetsuit. 57 degrees when I quit.

Sailing both the Gorge and Utah on my 8'2" HiTech and my 3 Starboards; Sonic 85L, S-Type 115L, and Carve 135L. Small quiver is Northwave, larger sails are Ezzy and Sailworks. Often in my white Odyssey but also in my wife's motor home.
