For the 1st time ever we didn't sail at all from the flats. Won't have to redo my brakes this year from driving in the salt water. We rented a house on Carolyn Street, the one you use to get to So Padre Windsurfing, and since we were only 4 doors from the water we did all of our sailing from the house. Decent launch and when the wind was So or No, which was most of the time, it was easy to get in and out. Once we were out two or three hundred yards the air was clean. When we came off the water we just hosed off our equipment on the lawn and put it in the garage. The house had sail racks and carpet in the garage so we were able to leave a few sails rigged and just set our boards on the carpet which saved a lot of work. Another surprise was that there were always people sailing out of So Padre Windsurfing and other houses or condos in that area so it was not uncommon to have up to a dozen people on the water. I did, however, miss sailing with the people we have gotten to know over the last few years at the flats so in the future I may still go out there on a few days when it is not badly flooded.
