Sunday DC SB Roberts 265, 8.7 - Last man standing was...

Dubbock and I were primed to get back up to Sulphur after Saturday's very pleasant planing. But no, Grant and Duane insisted that DC would blow based on a steadily climbing Sundance Arrowhead at 10:00. JD called from the dam at 12:00 that it was starting to whitecap and I got my butt up there. Grant, Duane and I spilled off the banks in short order, although by the time I got on the water, after frenzied rigging dweebage, Jim had been on the water for an hour, John for nearly that long. All of us rigged 8-somethings, thinking the whitecaps were just a tease. By 2:00 we were getting spanked big time. I got launched and slammed enough times that at one point, I just lay on my board wearily watching people in powerboats coming by on their way to seek refuge at the dam. If I had had a hacksaw, I woulda cut 6" off my fin then and there. Grant got bloodied to the point where beach picnic-goers were ready to call 911 (it was merely a nasty headwound he washed off with Miller High Life). I saw the bottom of Duane's speedy new Hyper appear magically once as the wind decided he needed a dunking. John even said it was challenging - Ha!

All of us went down, except for... DCJim, who put on a prodigious 3 hr show of non-stop planing with nary a missed jibe, let alone any of the flailing I was suffering. I was sure he had another 40 lbs in his pack to balance out his 8.5, but couldn't find it when he came in. Geez, I need to go sit on his front porch and meditate.

Big fun, we all got our money's worth and way more. Hope the Sulphur Creekers got some too.
