Monday NOAA had predicted 14mph for today and by this morning it had dropped to 8. I decided to come out of retirement and become a weatherman. I predicted from yesterdays Grants readings that it would swing from SSW to S, the preferred direction, at 9:15 and would be 18g22. When I got there and it had dropped to 15g17 I decided I had better not let Social Security know of my change in retirement status just yet. Boy was I surprised when 30 minutes later than I had predicted it the wind went S at 18g22. Wow! I was already blasting around on the big 135L floater so I just switched to the 115L speed board and was off to the races until 12:40. The 2.5hr sesh averaged 20g24 and peaked twice at 23g29. I measured the water temp at 55 degrees but the one time I went down it felt more like 45. Still, sailing in upper 50’s to upper 60’s this time of year is pretty good. The wind is also lasting longer as in the summer it usually ends around 10:00 whereas twice this week it has gone well past noon. Sweet morning.
