Tons of dark clouds over the Salt Lake were interfering with what should have been +20mph winds. Finally about 8:30 we got enough outflow winds from a dark cloud over the Mormon Bar that we were able to rig big and start getting some planers (John 7.5/145L, Ken 8.5/135L). There were a couple of times it dropped off enough we stood at the shore waiting but, most of the time, pretty consistent wind bands coming through. At about 11:00 dark clouds disappeared and the wind starting getting almost too much for my 8.5. We pulled off at 11:30. John left and I rigged down to the 7.0 and caught a half hour of the strongest winds of the morning and then a little lighter but still nice windlines until it hit the noon die-off at 12:40. Nice morning. Perfect sailing temperatures in the low to mid 70’s. Nice to be in a summer suit yesterday and today.
