From the dust in the air and getting blown around on Pioneer crossing I was expecting some really ugly wind. However, I took my meter out on the dike and it was showing steady 20-25. Ended up with a great couple of sessions on my 4.7 and 86L Sonic. The muddy water was a little startling after 19 days sailing Mojave but the waves were great and the water seemed warmer than Mojave (Not the 33 degrees Provo Marina is reporting). Saratoga is adding a lot of improvements with a 2nd set of restrooms, outdoor showers, and a new swim beach. It is a little harder to launch out of our normal spot with the new north dike but it is keeping the beach much cleaner. Plus their campaign against phragmites and carp has near eliminated fin collisions with floaters. Downside: huge population increase. I went back on “Redwood Road” instead of Pioneer and there is a huge new mall between Pioneer and the old Lehi highway and apartments as far as you can see.

Sailing both the Gorge and Utah on my 8'2" HiTech and my 3 Starboards; Sonic 85L, S-Type 115L, and Carve 135L. Small quiver is Northwave, larger sails are Ezzy and Sailworks. Often in my white Odyssey but also in my wife's motor home.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the informative post!
I'm curious - where did you sail in Mojave? Katherine's? We haven't been there for a while and I'm wondering how the launches are at the other end, like Cottonwood, 6 Mile. Thanks!
