Pineview. Best conditions/almost worst time.

Pineview had white caps from the spillway to the middle inlet. I launched my 16m waroo off of the middle inlet point. Best conditions Ive seen on PV. Winds were a steady wind for pineview at about 15mph plus without any lulls. First time I was able to stay up wind at PV without jumping. With jumps, the walks back were fine. Last jump ended in a kitemare (yes again).

After I went down into the water, I rushed to relaunch before the kite could roll down wind. Only problem, something was preventing one side of my bar from extending. So, kite loop mania began. In slow motion, the beach and the yellow leaves on the trees were beautiful, but approaching way to quick. First attempts to release the kite didnt work. The kite hit the water and stopped near the beach just long enough to grab a handfull of line to pull one side of the kite in.

I'm pretty sure the wrist leash wrapped around once and tangled on something. The kite looped to the right and the leash is attached to the right back line. Normally I check and adjust before relaunching. Sometimes, I will take off the wrist leash and unrap before relaunch.

Question. I liked the yarga system. It didnt tangle and could swivel around. Is there a good leash system that anyone can recommend other than the wrist leash. I never see anyone using this, and I for sure dont like it.

Les,

Glad to hear you are okay. You definitely need to change your leash setup before you fly your kite again.

I have never used the wrist leash that came with my Waroo. Wrist leashes are a bad idea IMHO. I have been dragged too many times. I use the Slingshot spreader bar that comes with its own leash system. Works great. Another option is to take the wrist leash off and connect the leash to your harness. Jake can show you how. I noticed that was the method used by the Best Rep.

I know that Best came out with a new bar system for 2007. I am curious to see if it also comes with a wrist leash. I guess their thinking was that a wrist leash is more user friendly for beginners, but I could not disagree more with their decision.
