7-15-05 - San Pedro Harbor, L.A.

Postby Josh Shirley » Mon Jul 18, 2005 12:29 pm

Spent a week with family in Newport and was able to escape one day to get the afternoon (2-5pm) blowout at San Pedro harbor. I sailed with about ten locals and everyone was one 6-6.5 and 100 liter boards. San Pedro is amazing because all the other beaches will be blowing 4-5 knots and the harbor will be blowing 18 - 25 knots. I really liked sailing the big open ocean swell. Fully powered and overpowered, had to waterstart in my straps and 98 degree weather. My only regret is not sailing there everyday last week. If anybody is down in that area it is a must try!
