It was the 1st sesh on Utah Lake this year, 7 weeks later than the 1st sesh last year. It has blown good there a couple of times but was dreadfully cold. After sailing Grantsville 5 times it was great to be on a wide open expanse of water. Got there at 3:00 with Provo reading 15mph. Hit the water with the 6.9 and 104L board for 40 min. then had to rig down to the 6.0 and 85L board. The 6.0 sesh only lasted 40 minutes but was sweet. Emmanuel had sailed with me until then on his 6.2. He left then and I rigged the 135L board for safety sailing alone. I could have motored along all the way to Provo. I didn’t drop off a plane until I quit a 7:20. The only negative was the reeds. They are piled up on shore and all over the launch area. You just have to drop back in the water after you get clear of the jetty and clean the fin. I also managed to snag quite a few out in the open water. Unfortunately, the weed fin I bought right before Rush died doesn’t fit the new boards. You know the water situation is changed when you see the Pelican Point jetty under water.
