4/28 Fri: Reports of Rush sailable bit premature for me

Blue skies, good 6.5-7.5 wind, 5 or 6 happy kiters rippin'. Looked great, until I went out on my 120l Roberts with a 40-cm fin and discovered my pointy fin was trawling for shrimp on the bottom almost the whole way across. The minute I planed I had to turn. Drat. A slighty shorter curvy fin for this board might work, but I don't have one. A big South wind tide would make it deeper too. In any case, unless it was a 6.0 or smaller day and I could drop another 4"-6" from my fin, I can't sail there. It seems the water is up to mid-thigh, but you have to subtract the ankle-deep sinkage of your feet in the bottom.

It's still beautiful seeing the low sunlight on the snow-capped Oquirrhs, and it was lovely to hear meadowlarks again, since they've mostly fled the Utah Lake shores which are becoming tacky golf courses. I miss our muddy little lake. Almost makes me want to take up teabagging.

Stockton is still a sleepy little burg. Stopped at the Dairy Delight in Toolee for my consolation chocolate dipped cone and to partake of the local scene. They've got new menus, including vegi burgers, but the cone is still all of $.96. Some things haven't changed.
