Wind looked good so I ducked out of work early and arrived about 4. wind was probably around 20mph, but rolled up and down a bit over the 2 hours kiting. Jim was coming in to rig down from 12 to 9 when i pulled up. Didn't seem too strong at the lot, so I rigged a 12m, which was the right kite for me on the leeward sides of the hills, but was a hanful up top. Some nice floaties. Was playing around on a little cornice at one point, one tack I was heading into the cornice from below planning to launch upward. Sent the kite as i hit it and my skis plow right into the snow wall instead of riding up. as the kite comes across with my skis sticking straight into a snow wall, i get ripped backwards, and as i reach the apex of the jump, maybe 15 ft up, i'm thinking, I am NOT going to be able to pull this one together....prepare for impact. Balled up and left a nice crater behind, luckily there was plenty of snow in that spot. Rode until dark, which was maybe 6:05.
