DC Zephyr Big Board 25 Apr

Postby ChrisPSherwin » Fri Apr 26, 2013 8:56 am

Showed up a little before 2 and saw kites in the air. Ralph and Don were just coming in from a session. Dave and I went out and the wind quickly turned to garbage. We were happy to get the kites back to the grass.

Then Crazy Loops showed up with a twinkle in his eye and a glint in his tooth...WILLING the winds to come forth...

And so it was; and on the 30th minute there was kiting, and Crazy Loops and Pepe and Dave and Don and then even Spencer saw the wind, and saw that it was good.

And there was much rejoicing on the frigid waters, and loops were spun, and hucks were thrown and then men looked at each other and said...

"Shit that was pretty good. When does Deer Creek ever get better later in the day?"

The wind actually started building at about noon. I got on the water around 1 (7.0m sail) at which point the wind immediately started gradually backing off. Gradually enough that I was able to do a nicely powered up trip from Charleston to BWB and back. By a little after 2, it really looked as though the wind was done for the day, so I left. Bad call! Still, it was my best session so far this year; beautiful, sunny day with air temp about 60 and water a shade above 50. The water level is quite high and still increasing.
