I went to a Boy Scout Scuba Camp with my son. I heard the Keys could be windy, so I brought 2 kites and a board. I had 2 opportunities to ride at Anne's Beach. It is a narrow strip of sand on the Atlantic side. Wind was side on both days. The water was flat and very shallow. The first day I rode 21m, the second 12m. Great, steady wind both times. Definitely, a nice place to ride, but not great for beginners due to the tight launch.

Thanks, Kenny, I've always wondered about Islamorada, having heard of it in years past. Wonder how the poleboarding would be?

Dimitri,

You would have to walk out a long ways at Anne's beach. However, the nice thing about windsurfing is that you don't need much of a beach for launching, so there are more available launch spots. You would want to hit it earlier in the year as well, SE Florida is hot, muggy, and mostly windless in July.
