8/21 DC Atlantis Beach 17M

Wow, had a very different experience than Jim...it was absolutely solid 17M, nicely lit, could have been on 12M, rock solid by the DC measuring stick. Just Ralph and me out there, wondering where everyone else was...Ralph boosting big on his 17, me just thanking the wind gods for the bonus session. Ralph was already out when I got there, I rode with nary a lull from 2-3:30 when it backed off enough for a gentle self-landing on the moonscape.

I was thinking the same thing when I read Jim's post. I thought it was about as steady as it gets. It was good for jumping, good boost and it didn't feel like it was going to drop you when you were up there. On a couple of jumps I felt like I was getting up into the Pepe Sherwin strati. Dave was getting plenty of air and making it look super smooth. The "moonscape" is tough for self launching and landing.

As far as self landing / launching goes on the moonscape; maybe we could roll that tire closer to shore, and strap a runner and carabiner around it? Maybe later we could stash the tire somewhere.

I hate the look of that piece of trash / tire, but it could be quite functional.

I also think we should pick up the parking lot a little, even though it's not our trash

Dave and Ralph,

Sorry my post came across as sounding so negative. Actually, once the wind filled in I was planing most of the time and enjoying life. I just wish it had lasted a little longer.
