Sailed out of Painted Rocks 7 to 10am on Friday, clean South wind. Test drove Steve Nyhus's HS 105 with a 6.7 for some great mellow rides. The water is high south of the boat ramp so it was a no go for my trailer and van. Perhaps a 4x4 would work on the limited beach but it looked soft! Lauched about 20 yards south of the boat ramp which is not ideal because of the slight wind shadow on a south. Wind died mid day. Late PM served up some gusty west wind. Some great rides (6.7) in the gusts.
Sailed out of North Beach on Saturday. 6.7 (I really do have other sails!) on the HS 105 and the Techno. South wind started about 8 am and lasted until at least mid pm. Weaker later in the day but again some great gust. A few other windsurfers on the beach trying to learn on sinkers with rigs that probably came from Dubock's dumpster in the 70's. The drive on section of North beach is hard packed right up to water's edge. No sand blasting effect; will need to wait awhile to get free sand with your lunch.
