3/15 Grants 1st day of the season

Postby Sarah Ranes » Mon Mar 16, 2015 4:17 pm

Linda and I had a pretty good season opener at Grants on Sunday. As usuall I was slow to check weather and conditions. But when I saw pretty good numbers out on the west side by Grantsville, I decided to give it a shot, take a drive, and try to windsurf. We had delay after delay trying to get stuff together, and get out the door. We finally arrived, just before 1pm ( Really late for Grants I know) with pretty good wind on the water. I jumped out with my windmeter and got up to 24mph. Decided on the 5.3 and 95 ltr board, which worked out ok with some fun rides and even a few rusty, but dry jibes. We didn't have our usual on the water reports on what to rig and had to decide on our own. We opted for not over powered and lighter. I'm sure John and Ken would have been ripping on mid 6 somethings. Where were you guys? We pretty much had the place to ourselves. The wind held up for a couple of hours of trying to remember how to windsurf. Definately worth the drive out there.
