Grants seemed like a poor bet. Looking at Sulfur (+20mph) and DC. Sulfur seemed like a little cold yet and Penny cringes when I go to DC. Looked at Grants at 6:15 and it looked so ugly I decided to sleep another hour. As I drove out the indicators weren’t there; flags barely flapping at airport, plastic bags stuck on the freeway barrier fence not flapping, Burmestor at the 2nd Grants exit was blowing NW, and Grants city had a light breeze. Would have turned around but remembered John and Mike talking me out of it 2 weeks before. Good I kept going. Definitely strong 7.0 when I got there at 8:30 and was on the water in a heartbeat. After a half hour I was getting beat up bad on the east side of the lake so I rigged the 6.0 and 86L. Still totally lit on the east side but down to 60% planing as I was struggling after each jibe on the west side. After a half hour of ripping rides alternating with schlogging I put the 7.0 on the 86L and was back up to 100% planing with the powerful sail making the little iSonic race board scream. Finally put the 115L back on for a last half hour and bagged it at 11:00 when it suddenly died back. It came back in from the west pretty strong but up and down. Great morning but I wish I could predict when this will happen. Pure luck that I got there.

Sailing both the Gorge and Utah on my 8'2" HiTech and my 3 Starboards; Sonic 85L, S-Type 115L, and Carve 135L. Small quiver is Northwave, larger sails are Ezzy and Sailworks. Often in my white Odyssey but also in my wife's motor home.
