Rained hard all the way from the house to Lake Point. Ferocious Tooele Twister between Saltair and Lake Point along with hydroplaning conditions. Was relieved when I got past Lake Point and rain stopped and I could see blue sky in the distance. That is when I saw a big cloud of dust and debris flying all over and realized the SUV 3 cars in front of me had flipped over on its roof. The driver had gotten out but his wife was trapped between the seats. I was trying to pry the back door open with a claw hammer when 2 burley truckers came up, grabbed the door frame at the top of the window and, with a loud grunt, bent the door in half. Wow! Wow to only a few minor injuries too.
Got to Grants to overcast skies, lots of whitecaps, and a few patches of blue sky. By 9:00 the Stansbury’s were bathed in sunlight making for gorgeous sailing. Then by 9:30 the whole west side of Tooele valley was in bright sun. Unfortunately the 5.0 winds seemed to be dropping so I rigged the 7.0 for some nice rides for a half hour. Then a half hour of catching the occasional windline. Then rigged the 8.5 and sailed pretty steadily until I got blown off the lake at 11:30. That’s when the rain hit again. Packed everything wet only to have the sun out again when I left. Not as good as the last 2 days but glad I went.
