2/6-2/27 Mead-Mojave, 5.2-7.0

Well, not Hawaii but 58 degree water at Lake Mead in February sure beats Grantsville. Went down expecting to sail North winds at Mojave for the majority of the time as we were down there for 4 weeks 2 years ago and got 10 north days (Katherine Landing Mojave) and one south (6-mile Mojave) in that period. This year in 3 weeks we got 3 North wind days at Mojave and 6 South wind days at Mead. Worked out well for us as we have 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren only 20 minutes from Mead. Would usually have sailed South winds at Mojave 6-mile but there were flash flood warnings most of the South wind days and 6-mile is literally a 6 mile drive down a sandy wash. It was definitely cooler, cloudier, and rainier for Las Vegas so far this year. It was great to jump out of the motor home at Mojave and have Josh standing there. We got 3 nice 5.2 days there, most with my 86L board. Most of the Mead days were full on 6.0 but there were a few times I rigged my new 7.0. The last day was straight offshore 22mph winds and it was a blast screaming back and forth the 2 miles from the swim beach to the Marina on flat water. Had a great trip and love my grandkids.
