The Gorge dished up more amazment this trip than ever, with some really strong winds. Like Criaig, we sailed every sail that we took 3.7 to 6.2, and used from a small wave board to 91 ltr FRC. And on one light day I borrowed a friends formula gear to sail at Stevenson. That is really a cool feeling, to do some serious angles, up and down the river, you can really do some touring.
On a couple of the strong days, we only got to sail 3.7's for an hour or two before it was too much for our worn out body and skills. Smoke on the water every where, and huge swell. Like Craig mentioned, the Dale Cook exibition was really fun to see. There were some good sailors out, but he was a stand out, launching huge air, he seemed to goo up up up. The pager was getting gust readings up to 49 mph. When Dale came in from his session, he said to Craig, there were some big puffs out there.
Some of the days were pretty crowded....the hackery was full by 8 am and down right crazy. But some days when things thinned out I had a small section of the river to my self for a hour or so. with perfect 4.7 wind and smooth big swell.....it was a blast. Now I feel like a swell junkie, wanting to return to the feeling. Fortunately we get to go back soon.
