Wanted to go to Sulpher but social engagements forced a compromise. We got to Jordanelle and the flags looked good but there was not one parking spot to be had. We were shut down. No problem because our BBQ was in Heber so Deer Creek was just as convenient.
We had no problem parking when we got there after 2. Surprise, surprise, it was windy. Sustained puffy winds. Boat traffic was moderate mayhem and the air was very warm. I really could have been on my Carve with a 7.2 for many of the reaches from 2-4 pm. The Formula gear kept me going on occasional pushes until I left at 5 but it is clear that DC is not the place to be on Saturdays until after Labor Day. Entertaining though. The folks next to us were roasting a whole pig on a spit for hours and hours; hippies smuggling hamsters and rastas with dread locks and their naked red headed offspring sat under the trees; and family reunions for what seemed to be hundreds were all present. I'll call it cultural.
Nothing broke and rides were had but I wish I'd been in Wyoming.
