First time I have rode at Grants on a North. I planned to go to Rush because I had evening plans with the Fam due to the holiday. Wind looked good throughout the Tooele Valley, but when I arrived at Rush a little black raincloud was dumping rain and spoiling the wind. I decided to head to the caustic salt ponds via the back road to Grantsville. I was pleasantly surprised to see some good wind ripples at Grants. The wind was out of the northeast do the wind was almost directly on-shore. I had forgotten what clean water was like after a month of saline and scum at Rush and the Salt Ponds. It was nice to get out of the water and not to have to rinse myself off, plus I was able top get all of the salt off my Glide and control bar.

Rush is still kiteable, but just barely. It will probably be gone in a couple more weeks.

kenny-

Glad to hear Grantsville gave you a good ride.

you should come down to lincoln with us sometime! billy, a freind of ours, and I and our respective counterparts were there yesterday. a handfull of other kiters showed up too. i left about 7:45 due to plans as well, but rode for a good two hours powered up on my 17 fuel. billy was putting away his big kite to trade it in for a 13 when i left. tonight i think is supposed to be as good. i made a lot of progress last night and by the end of the session was leaving the beach in one spot and coming back in the same spot! Upwind riding here i come! i'm pretty beat, but might make it back down there again tonight.... the beach front is rather rocky and i think i contributed to a leaky strut i have now, but 40 meters away from the beach is a nice grassy area to rig. think about it... Salt Lake's own kite beach...

Mike,

I made the trip to Lincoln a couple weeks ago and rode for 15 minutes underpowered before a thundercloud messed up the wind. I will go down there again when the wind is right.

Congratulations on staying upwind!
