Grantsville Sat. at 6:30, 21 mph, Mon. at 6:00 24 mph. Two of my last 3 days in the Gorge were dawn patrols and now Grantsville is dishing them out too. Got there Monday at 7:20 to less white caps than I expected after seeing the 24mph on the internet. George Ward had rigged a 7.5 and got blown off the lake before I even got to the water. John Freed called about then and said it was averaging 19mph so I quickly rigged the 6.0 and the 85L Sonic. The 1st half hour was just nicely powered with some work required to get on a plane and some fairly ripping winds near the dam. Then the whole lake filled in with some great, +20mph wind. The little Sonic was screaming. It was pretty much +20 mph until 10:15 when it started getting a little holey. Only 4 desperate Utah sailors showed up for this one. I usually would stay and milk out the windlines but this time I managed to be at my desk, hard at work by noon. On Saturday I told everyone Monday morning would be the next good session and I even surprised myself that I was right (by Sunday night I was giving it a 10% chance).
