2/7 Pow Mow 10m Frenzy

Postby Augie » Fri Feb 09, 2007 10:01 am

I took newbie Bart to Pow Mow On Wednesday. The wind was barely enough to fly the kite when we got there @10:00 and was blowing about 20mph when we left @ 1:30. Kited back across the gap and back to the parking lot. The big story is the sliding surface. This shit is not snow-It is an unbreakable crust with wind ridges on it. The tops of the sage is starting to poke through. It is very fast and you don't need much wind to get going. However, you also can't dig an edge in easily to carve against it. Luckily more snow is forecast for today. If you go before it gets covered-take the fast surface into consideration in your kite size selection.
I also heard that Nate was out on Pineview yesterday. The snow is gone from there also and it looks even faster.
