Saturday 10/1 - Deer Creek Island 5.8

Arrived at about 3:30 and got a great couple hours of mostly powered on the 5.8 . About 7 other sailors out including Fred & Lana, Trip & Judi and several others. The water is surprisingly not all that cold yet. It was the biggest gear I've sailed in probably a year and a half . . it took some getting used to but it felt good . . . it was almost surreal to see that big clew taking so much time to get around on jibes. I felt like I was in the matrix or something and had slowed down time. If I keep sailing here I'll be back on the 8.7 and the course board again. That way I can bring a sack lunch so that when I start my gibe I can let go of the boom on one side, sit on the board, have something to eat, get up, wash my hands, wipe my mouth off, and then stand up and look to see if the boom has made it on the other side. I can't wait!!!
