Thanks to Brian & Heather for putting on a great event!!! The morning hours were bright and sunny. The wind was surprising light and SE in the morning I rigged my 26M and rode up to the top of the ridgeline. It then died back for 45 minutes or so. The wind came up very slowly from the SW. I headed back to Bosco and had fun doing some gravity jumps. The wind soon got to the point that I needed to head back in. I wanted to avoid the congestion at the bottom of Bosco, so I decided to go up onto the hill and then work my way back upwind of the launch area - bad idea. Up on top the wind was much stronger and I was getting lifted on my 26M. I put the kite down and as soon as it was on the ground a gust hit and my safety leash released. The kite went over the cornice onto the backside of Bosco. I found a safe spot where the cornice was only 6 feet high, picked up my kite and walked back to the road. Fortunately, no damage to the kite or anyone else. The sky became overcast and the wind strengthened and became much more gusty and inconsistent. Chasta was jumping the road for Fox 13 and other cameramen. I took a demo ride on a Waroo 16M loaned to me by Jake. The kite handled well in the nasty, gusty stuff. Saw a lot of familiar faces, some I had not seen since last summer. All in all it was a great event, thanks once again to Brian and Heather.
