Trainer kite?

Postby btjsfca » Tue May 06, 2008 12:23 pm

Well, if the wind forecast holds, then I'll be out at Rush on Thursday with a friend who's interested in teh kiting. Is anyone else planning on being there who can haul a trainer with them? I don't have one, and I'd be a bit wary to throw my buddy straight on my 8 meter. I'm thinking maybe Billy can help a kiter out?

Thanks for any assistance.

i have a small trainer, 1m, if there's wind i'll be there around 4pm. I'll throw it in the car.

What time are you going out? I am contemplating going out about 1:00 - 2:00, but there's no since in my going out if there is noone to help me launch. I haven't ever launched this kite before and wouldn't feel safe without help. I, too, have a one meter stunt kite.

The plan is to leave SLC at 3. It looks pretty OK, but gusty and shifty at Penny's.

Well,
We probably passed going in opposite directions. John Manwaring and I set out at Rush for about two hours with little or no wind and finally left sometime after four o'clock. The lake looked a lot like a mirror at times. We could see the reflections of trucks on the road on the other side of the lake. Sorry there wasn't a way to tell you not to come. Penney's was reading around 10 mph out of the north most of the time, but Provo Airport was reading out of the south, and apparently, they were nullifying each other. Hope you didn't make the drive.

I went down there with my buddy, and we stood for about 5-10 minutes, said eff it and went up to Burmester. He had a fine time flying my 8m Venom for at least an hour. I tried the board a bit, but there wasn't enough juice. The thermal got killed by the cloudcover, I think. Oh well. At least I know Burm is good. A bit moist, but not slimy. Pretty much open for business.

Thanks for the heads up anyhow. See you out and about in June. DR, here I come!
