Hey Ken, In the past, I have gotten away with using one screw size bigger, but do not go longer.....it will bust through the bottom of the insert, and into the core of the board. I've also done the epoxy thing, but it was on a vent plug hole. If you drill your footstrap inserts out and bigger, just make sure you do not go too deep and into the core. I just used sand paper to ream it out a bit.
I've been able to get stainless screws from the Marine supply stores, which are a pretty good match to thread patterns, but they usually have sharp tips, where the actual screws the ws boards come with are very blunt. It would be best to just get them when you go to the Gorge, from Big winds or Windance, then you get the right ones. Anyway....good luck.
