Taos Mtn Film Fest features Utahn filmer

Heather and I are down in Taos New Mex at the Mountain Film Fest. Great people, positive vibes, amazing energy and a crazy cool desert with hot springs and oncoming snow.

Last night we saw a short film called the 'Red Helmet'... it was awesome and had the entire 120 person crowd in full applaud. Its about a non-normal kid..you know, that kid who doesn't become a jock and isn't pushed by peer pressure to jump off the pier. While running from society he stumbles upon a red helmet, and his mind witness's the visions possible within the red helmet. Amazing base jump and paraglider footage combined with Kayak and mountain biking....an eye opening film to the red helmeted kid in each of us. Aerial footage by local kiter turned para pilot Loren Cox, and featuring Nova, one of Ozone's American team pilots. Find it if you can, its a worthy 7 minutes.

So the Red Helmet took home one of the 'Best of Show' award for its category... Congrats to the crew, and a worthy accomplishment as all the films were inspiring.

After the awards, all the top films and award winners were again played to a sold out crowd. Opening up was the Red Helmet, and then the organizers snuck in a short Snowkite clip we had delivered them at the last moment. They felt that the sport was dynamic and the footage of our local Utah terrain inspired the feeling of the mountain culture that the festival is striving to grow.

It was cool to see the crowd as excited for the Red Helmet as they were for the Snowkiting footage, many of the desert locals seeing kiting for the first time.

Glad to be back in town and seeing snow on the ground!

Excitement, adventure... a Snowkite Jedi craves not these things.
