Economy Hurting Weather Reports?

Postby kenonstott » Mon Mar 30, 2009 9:11 am

Maybe the economy is affecting our weather reports. On our weather page the TWC jetstream report for today is dated March 16 and I believe it is that old (the future ones are also way out of date). Through yesterday the SFDU jetstream reports were 6 days old (the “now” one is up to date today but there aren’t any for 24 hours or 48 hours. Accuweather seems to be ok so far.

Some good news; the Tooele county wind meters came back on line at 5:00 AM this morning. They were down Saturday morning when we could have used them (they have been down 3 times in March for a total of 14 days). We continue to lose them frequently so who knows. Does anyone know who to call to get them back on line?

I guess the gist of this is to check the dates on any weather info you look at as it may be horribly out of date. We have gotten spoiled with all the free weather data we get.

At least Saturday was a great ski day, nothing lost there.

Since I harvest most of that stuff from TWC I'll see if maybe that data hasn't moved somewhere else, and relink if possible.

Thanks, for the help

On March 14th, SFSU had a major software meltdown. They are slowly getting their products back up online. Whit G

Quote from SFSU:
"Note: On Saturday, March 14, a software failure seriously damaged the
California Regional Weather Server. We have been working to restore service; at the moment,
products being kept current include all jet stream maps, continent-scale composite maps,
and satellite images. Other products will come back on line gradually as we repair the damage.
The reliability of products will likely be low for a while, compared to the recent past."
