Boat Traffic

Postby Shawn Henderson » Sun Aug 22, 2010 10:32 pm

I had a close call on saturday with a wake boat. He was hideing in my blind spot and we noticed each other just in time. If you dare go to DC on a mid summer weekend or holiday do be careful. Yes, this is a dead horse, but it seems that a MAJORITY of boaters dont understand the sailing craft right of way. Oh and yes at the end I bailed out inside the wake-less area. :^^ I need to do better following the rules myself.

Best video yet. It plays much more smoothly on my computer than previous ones. Have you changed something or is my crappy, slow DSL connection just working better this morning?

I totally agree about the motorheadboat situation; half the time everyone in the boat is looking back at whatever they're towing and nobody is looking forward or out to the side. Lately, I've pretty much given up on trying to claim right-of-way; when I see a motorboat, I just jibe and head the other way.

I think we can teach these folks a lesson by getting some really old gears and get close to these boats and crash the rig on their boat and see if they like to have a mast smacking on their boat. Because we have the right of ways, we won't be liable.
The hard part would be trying not to kill anyone of them. They have killed a few windsurfers already, however.
