Shorter drive and warmer than the gorge... Lake Mojave

Postby windzup » Tue May 10, 2011 3:29 pm

Followed the weather and hit 3 days of 7 meter riding at Lake Mojave. No wetsuit for me, just board shorts and a thick top. As the summer warms up the thermal wind down there is strong and predictable. The water gets warm and the air is hot. Was just a 7 hour drive from Skyline to the shore's of Lake Mojave. Free camping at launch on the shore.

Here is a link to photos and a recap from the weekend. Met up with a bunch of Jackson Hole Kiter's and local Vegas Village peeps. http://windzup.com/stories/high-wind-ad ... ake-mojave

If anyone is interested in heading down let me know, or drop me a line for beta on the area. Once the summer thermal kicks in, the lake blows 5 days a week in the 15-25mph range. Best time is mid week as weekends the beach gets crowded. Or rent a boat and own your own beach front property for a day.
