Asia Kite trip?

Postby Todd Jacques » Fri Jun 22, 2012 10:53 pm

My company is sending me to Macau, China. I fly in and out of Hong Kong. They will let me take time off after work is complete. My first trip is July 20 -August 2. I have to cancel my trip to the Gorge :( I will most likely go over the 4th of July, or save money to do some Asia kiting this trip or another. I might go three times, but nothing is guaranteed except the first trip. I might get to go back the end of September or next spring.
Big question where to go within reason. I am a advanced rider. I like swell, mushy waves and warm water. I looked at Mui Ne Bay Vietnam (first choice) , but windy season look like November- April. Travel takes from 3 to 8 hours depending on stops ($750-$450) to Ho Chi Man city and a 3 hour drive from there to Mui Ne. I hear once you get there it is cheap. And I am 3/4's of the way there :)))
Where else? Philippines?

Sounds like a sweet opportunity. Can you stop in the South Pacific on the way over or back? Maybe Fiji, Cooke Islands something like this or heck even Maui. Sometimes you can book stopovers without any extra charge but I don't know about on the way to China.

Sometimes this is helpful:

and I always enjoy this:

mark I would get a hols of leo if I knew how to.

Brad I am using Slocs, it is great. Toby on Kiteforum turnrd me on to it. winds that time of year are iffy at best. Since I most likely will go back I will cross my fingers and hope I get a killer trip to Vietnam.
I have decided to just do a mini stopover in Taiwan as I defienetly can get my company to pay for all airfare. Also it seems taiwan gets wind alomost all year and water is clean. There are kitebeaches that seem to have wind near taipei ( main airport). Jinsan and Sayuwan seem to have decent wind. I am trying to figure out if that are in that area is friendly enough for a gringo to kite. I need to figure where to stay and if i need a car.
