Thanks for the input, I wouldnt pay either. I'll bring up the point that very few of the locals will visit throughout the year. There is the potential to have vacationing clients pay to kite and ski there.

I'd like to talk more about their goals, I'm not sure these rates will help achieve thier goals. The fest is turning out a lot of valuable media attention for them, more value than If all of us visited once and paid for a ticket. We need the local kiters to show up kite just so that day skiers can see the sight that kiting provides. Some of the day skiers are the people that the resort is trying to hype Pow Mow to like recreation writers and tourism industry folks. They should raise the rates if the demand is there. Right now its not.

Good news but off topic, we are discussing ways to maintain the kite area with a snowcat so that the snowcats can access the area throughout the winter to build features such as kickers, free ride obstacles, and obstacles for a kiter cross and freestyle event. We'll also have some fun sliders to pull out for the event.

We are also planning to distribute the crowd by taking kiters out to the white pine and flat top mountain areas. I hate to make promises, but the fest is going to be a very memorable event.

There is some talk about the event costing alot of cash. We are looking at the typical $20 registration fee and of course that includes swag, tshirt or beanie, entrance fee and possible a "bad weather day" free or deeply discounted lift ticket. We are having a huge bash on Saturday night and the event keeps getting bigger and better. I dont think anyone is going to want to miss the first ever Best Girls winter model search. Visit http://www.superflyopen.com for more info. The evening schedule has changed a little and a new website with more accurate info should replace the current holding page soon.

I had the opportunity to talk to management yesterday during the Wasatch Avalanche Balsters clinic. Here is some more info that I can pass along.
1. It is unlikely that we will be able to get snowcats to build jumps. It is just too soft for those big machines. However, the snow fence that Les threw out there last year worked pretty good for building a berm. If you simply raise it occasionally the wind will do the work. I think we let it get buried too much and it was too hard to get out last year. I will work on that this year. We can also use shovels to groom whatever we make.
2. We are on our own if we choose to kite after the ski patrol comes by to for the end of the day sweep. We can stay if we choose. Be aware that there will be people sking in the bowl to the east of the kite area this year (Mary's bowl) doing backcountry tours with the mountain hosts.
3. Flattop mountain will probably not be part of the Superfly open. I know that there was talk of shuttles out there but I don't think it will be.
4. I was told that the repair of the non-functioning wind meter on top of Hidden Lake lodge has been funded.

Auggie. Lets keep in touch. There is alot alot alot to do for the fest. We came up with a plan to maintain a loop through the kiting area throughout the season leading up to the fest. Pow Mow is maintaining there access to the cat skiing through the area, it would take one pass each time or when they get the chance between storms. I think the beginning of the season is most critical because of depth hoar. There is no garauntee this will happen because it is somewhat weather dependent, but we have Pow Mow's pledge to make this happen. With a track through the area we can raise some features with the cat. We've 68' of sliders so far from KAB and will set up at the top of the hill slightly out of the way from down wind riders.

Also, I'm planning on making Flat Top Mountain happen. Give me a call when you can to discuss. Also, we wouldnt even need transport out to the White Pine Area if we could clear some brush. What do you think about some clearing? Give me a call.
