Winter Solstice at Strawbs

Postby Marty Lowe » Fri Dec 21, 2007 8:20 am

The shortest day of the year.
Who's thinking about kiting at Strawberry today?

I haven't been there yet this season.
What location has the best early season snow?
Probably Chicken Creek east.

Actually, Strawberry River had the most snow coverage last week, haven't seen it since it snowed. Both the Chicken Creeks depend on the frozen lake to give more rideable area. and that is only starting to freeze. The Hills were bushy. Winds seem stronger at the Chicken Creeks and the Ladders but again rideable area may be less. What the heck, Drive over and take a look. Watch out if you park on the side of the road, there is a big sign just before the summit thats say no parking. There is one area just before the turn off to the Marina on the right that has good coverage in a field, but requires side of the road parking.
Have fun and give us workers a report
