Snowkiter Awards

Postby Kenny » Sun Feb 08, 2009 4:25 pm

I thought it would be fun to offer up some Snowkiter Awards to the local crew.

So, here are my thoughts. I am giving out free Rhodes coupons. I know they are not big awards, but the idea is to swap stories and recognize our fellow riders. if someone else wants to offer free swag, please feel free to do so.

These apply only to the local Utah snowkiting crew, not visitors to the state. Riders count if they are in town for most of the snowkiting season.

Categories:

Most talented rider

Best trick performed

Most daring rider

Rider with the most fluid style

Most helpful kiter

Best kiting instructor

Kiter with the most stoke

Most improvement comparing this season to last

Scariest moment

Best photographer

Best videographer

Best posting in the windlog

Rider who has the most sessions

Longest walk back to your vehicle

If you think of other categories to add, I will be happy to consider them. I will give a coupon to the recipient and to the person who does the nomination if you tell a good story.

I think I qualify for most of those... does the walk back to the car count if its from previous years?

Great idea Kenny, and good category selection.

Brian,

I still remember that post - great story! Yes, past year's stories qualify. Do a cut and paste right into this thread.

Common everyone, don't be shy. Let's hear from you. You can nominate multiple people for one category and you don't have to nominate a person in every category.

Jason,

Best Winter Wind Forecaster - I nominate Billy. I call him whenever I am in a quandary.

Kenny,

Great ideas!

Keep your winners a secret and award them at the UWA Annual party, meeting, social, movie night!

And, Jake, Obviously you think that it's bad form to nominate yourself, otherwise I'm sure without a doubt you'd be on that list a number of times from just the couple times I've been out there with you!

BTW... Get your best short kiting videos ready for spring...

Rick.

Great posts, keep'm coming. Let's hear from some of the newbies...

Jason does have a great sense of humor - he gave me the nickname Kite Bishop. I have had several kiters ask me how I like my church calling as a mormon bishop, I have to explain that No, I am not a bishop (I would never have time for kiting if I was). I am a kite bishop - I look over my flock of fellow kiters.
