Jordan empties into Crystal Springs unit not Farmington Bay. County Canal and alot of the small creeks and canals that empty into Farminton Bay. Water is Fresh water really alkline, also under all the mud and processed poop it is a fine white sand that chews up boat props real fast so if you can imagine that. It is the North East Corner of Unit 1 that is the rest area during hunting season, you can potentialy ride everywhere else. If you go to the Turpin Unit and head west on the dike that is the biggest pond 7 miles long and about a mile wide I think that North or South would work best.

Most of Farmington Bay's "units" are man made.
It is where the Jordan river goes before it dumps into Salt Lake.

Clean is a relative term, in this case, not salty in the "units"

I went to me Jake and Billy for a lunch sess. and right when I got there they were leaving. The Park Ranger/Redneck Hunter told them they were disrupting the birds, he thought they were scaring the birds and they would stop going there so NO KITEBOARDING at Willard Bay.

I'm sure you mean Farmington Bay,
Willard is all about recreation.
I may go there today, if it picks up.
The Willard POE meter is online again, finally.

Billy relayed to me that the ranger received complaints from hunters that kiters were scaring the birds. The ranger is not worried so much about scaring the birds because when you start blasting away with a double-barrelled shotgun, you are going to scare the birds more than flying a 12M nearby. In other words, hunters take priority over kiters. Farmington Bay goes from a sanctuary for birds to a death zone for birds. Heaven forbid that kiters interfere with the life/death cycle of birds at Farmington Bay!

Farmington Bay is full of BULLS!@#!

Postby Jacob Buzianis » Thu Oct 04, 2007 9:36 pm

IT'S FREAKING BULLS!@#!!!!!!

Kennecoot taking water from the rivers that drain out to RUSH.

Private ponds around the Great Salt Lake that are run and owned by Bird Hunting Club. You have pay 15,00 or more to join the club.

And Now Farmington Bay Park Ranger can't let us ride there for two weeks before Hunting season start. Even fan boats are allowed to go out there before hunting season. What's up with that?

THIS IS FREAKING BULLSHIT

Billy and I had the SWEETEST ride there yesterday. Super Flat water and the wind was soo steady. The pond's smell and water taste just like RUSH lake.

I can pics Farmington Bay being a place to kite every week. Early afternoon North wind days and smooth south wind morning session.
I might have to go get a hunting suit and bird game license. Anybody want to join me to go duck hunting with the kite?

Amen Jake!

And Kenny... You're exactly right! Scaring birds! What a crock of you know what... I hope you said that... Um, so, your 12 gauge shot gun you have there EINSTEIN isn't scaring the birds?

I've got it... Paint a duck face on your kites... Then carry a straw and some paper in your wetsuit and when they come to you just say, "Be berry berry quiet, I'm huntin' ducks wif my peashoota"...

Then the best that they can do is accuse you of is being a very inefficient hunter... Hey man, it's your way of hunting!

PS MARTY.. we need to repost that Willard Bay Wind meter on the weather page... Nice!

Being a hunter that will probably be out there tomorrow. Afternoon hours you will find less people. Also what is to say if you paid the proper fees and licenses you are not hunting yourself. Catchin birds with a kite net thing-a-ma-jig, now if I could just get close enough to get one. Also if it is any piece of mind I hate 90% of so called trash toteing conservationist red neck hunters too. Opening access to some ponds might be a good thing. They are putting a freeway through Farmington Bay that won't disturb anything. Sorry again for the rant!
