Hi Kris,
Early August is probably the worst time for wind in Northern Utah. The Jet Stream is a long way North,
the upper atmosphere doesn't couple down to the surface much, fronts typically follow the Jet, and you get
this dandy moisture slurping effect up from the South which boils up T-heads in the PM. Rush almost
always has potential for North wind in August, but it's been many years since it had any water in it this time of year. Most folks just head for the Gorge.
There are a couple of Kite Factions on Facebook, that might help you out, I'm not advertising for
Cloud 9 but you might start here
https://www.facebook.com/ULSSB.
Or, PM some of the more vocal Kiters on this forum, the word on the street is that they don't check
the forum much anymore (other than the forecast ;*) ), but they might return a PM.
Good luck,
-Craig
p.s. You're not by any chance related to the surf innovator George Greenough, are ya?

I use the ikite app for my wind reports and if seems based on the readings we have not seem much wind lately. Does it get any better in the coming weeks? I live at least 30 min from the nearest spot (Lindon) so it's quite the commitment to go based on just a guess. How do you guys decide where and when to go? I use Craig's advice and he seems spot on. Do you guys have another means of getting the word out that it's blowing?
