The Windzup crew accompanied by die hard Idaho snowkiters, headed up to Skyline for the final Snowkite session of the 04/05 winter season. There is still plenty of snow on the north faces, but with a predominate south flow, it is unlikely those will be ridden again this season. All south facing slopes have melted and what remains are runs of solid snowpacks criss-crossing the ridge. Each run was around a football field in width.
It was kind of cool because you had to weave around mud pits and pick good lines, or else you were off the snow.
The south wind yesterday lined up perfect with a couple different runs and we tracked up every inch we could. From the truck, we could still walk only 10 feet, lay out our foils, and ride to up the base of Boscos hill. We'll have pics up on the website soon.
Althgough it is possible to eak another minor session or two out of Skyline, we are officially closing the Snowkite season up there. With the 3 foot dump overnight in mid-October 04' and a full season of riding thru this week, That makes Skyline one of the longest running Snowkite locations in North America this year with 7 full months of goodness!
The Windzup crew is turning our heads towards summer activities now, and you can expect to see us on the water for the next few months, (at least until snow hits in October!) We always have demo kites with us and are more than happy to share the experience with anyone, so drop by if you see us the Ozone rig at the beach.
See you out, Rush looks good today!
