Remembering Mitch

Postby bradcfairchild » Mon Jun 27, 2005 9:49 am

I add my sympathy and condolences to Mitch’s family and to all of us for the loss of a friend and fellow wind catcher. I heard about this last week but I am recovering from a back injury and just read the posts. My heart is troubled at the loss of a fellow sailor and kiter.

I use to joke, when I got sick, that I had cancer and was going to die, but then too many people started to die from cancer and the joke was not funny any more (it never was). More recently I have joked that if I ever got cancer, I would go kiting... no more joking. I agree that life should be lived to the fullest and now it hurts to know one of us died doing a sport that we all love.

I tell everyone that is interested in kiting to read everything they can about it including the kitemares. It sounds like Mitch was a knowledgeable about this sport as any of us. If there is more to share about how to prevent this from happening to others I would like to hear about it. I appreciate everyone for sharing their thoughts and feelings about what happened.

Thanks

Brad
