Another man down!!

Postby jason morton » Wed Jul 09, 2008 5:07 pm

So last night I was out riding pleasantly, adjusted my stance and felt a "pop" with associated pain on the medial part of my knee. Got an MRI today and I tore my meniscus. Needs to be scoped and debrided. No kiting. No gorge trip.

Dude, I've got some in a bag here at home from the last time I had some taken out, You can use it. You are going to need some rest you should do it by a river with friends. You should walk right out of surgery.

Shit Jason! glad to hear its only your meniscus and not something worse. i agree, you should go go soak your knee in the columbia river water and soak your mind in some suds while you are there too. i've heard that alcohol speeds up the healing process
anyway, i'll be thinknig healing thoughts for you and be giving you a call. is it a really bad pain? perhpas you can explain it for me. 6 weeks ago at rush i landed an under rotated back roll and my knee gave way medially too. i thought i had torn something, and perhaps i have micro tears on my mcl, but the doc pulled on it and took x-rays and said i was good to go. well, 6 weeks later and it still hurts bad if i twist it just wrong or stay sedentary for too long. its stable though....

good luck with the surgery and we will be thinking healing thoughts!

Jason,

That sucks! I hope you have a more speedy recovery than me. It has been one week since my surgery, so I have 5 more weeks on crutches.

Despite what Mike May say, lay off the booze for 2 weeks after surgery, alcohol slows down the healing process (I had to add that in - I am the Kite Bishop).

Missing out on a Gorge trip just adds insult to injury. I am trying to figure out if I can squeeze in some type of kiting trip in late September/early October. I am hoping to be able to ride again by then if not sooner. Keep us updated on your prognosis and when you think that you will be able to return to the water.

I wish you a very speedy recovery and hope to see you again soon on the water (I am not so sure about the whole KGB thing after my injury).

Bummer Jason, I was counting on kiting and parting with you at the Gorge. You should make the trip anyway.

That sucks Jason. Just ran into Mike at the Gallivin Center show and he told me about it.
If you can stand to watch everyone kite, you should still head out to the Gorge and hang.
Hope it heals quick.

Jason,
Sorry to hear you are tweaked. I will also miss you at the Gorge. Maybe we should rent a stretch limo so that you and Jeff have a comfy ride and a place to hang out while we are busy with other endeavors. Speaking of injuries, sounds like a lot of us are currently suffering from 'broken heart syndrom' that you two won't be joining us.
Good vibes to you for a speedy recovery
