Kiteboarder dilemma

Postby windzup » Thu Oct 30, 2008 9:45 am

Water or snow or water or snow or water or snow or water or snow or water or snow or water or snow.... the dilemma of a Utah Kiteboarder... hard to decide what passion controls which half of the mind. For me I feel a sway towards the mountain side of life. So while Billy is telling me how epic Deer Creek has been and how good the forecast looks.... I find myself pouring over topo and weather maps looking for a place to get a Snowkite fix.

So while my friends are in Padre in warm waters... I find myself fueling up for a 12 hour drive north to a little spot with a bit of snow. I hope when I come back the dry suits are packed away, skis are waxed, and the mountains are covered with powder.

Its a tough dilemma being a Kitebaorder in Utah... water or snow or water or snow or water or snow or water or snow or water or snow or water or snow or Sky?

Ok then, solid/liquid, solid/liquid........................................ In Utah it's possible
to do both in the same day, now that's recreation.

And then there are those of us for whom snow is the only way to go. Bring it on!

Speaking of solid/liquid, how close is the liquid to solid these days? Specifically, are DC and Utah Lake water temps in the low 50's, mid 50's, 60. Or less technical: what is the unbootied foot ache factor?

No sour grapes, Kenny! :((

... what kind of board is it?

But, I bet you'd be pretty cool with a buggy. And a kite less than 100m.

NO more dilema! Easily solved with a 10 hour drive north. The Biggies delivered Snowkite Sessions, and melted every night, allowing perfect rides that turned back to evaporation by the end. Like some crazy dazed dream really.

Along the way we met friends that were still looking back on summer, with a half dozen kiters at Deer Creek, and J-Holers camped at Palisade Res for the Am sesh. We Drove on and rolled up the Biggies with wind and snow combining in a small universe to allow perfect Snowkiting.

I'm 3 for 3 on my Snowkite season kickoff... Skyline is snow covered this morning... Summers over and the dilema is gone! :)))

Brian,

Please let us know what the conditions are like at Skyline. Can't wait to get out on the snow!!!

We drove up to Skyline this morning and there is only about 3 inches of snow. Hopefully more will come this week.
