I went out at 6 AM this morning to SSB. Wind was 25 gusting to 35 mph. I was on a 9M kite fully powered. I wished I had a 7M. Around 7 AM a windsurfer showed up and we enjoyed some good rides in the swell. Hopefully, it will back down and steady out a bit in the PM. Just check the Provo Airport and add 5 mph and that is what SSB is doing.
The surge from the on-shore wind has narrowed the beach at SSB to a narrow strip again so launching is a bit precarious. I had to fly my kite to the edge of the window and bounce it off the water in order to walk out over the slippery mud/sand in order to ride.
Today is not a good day for newbies. You would be better off going to the park and flying a trainer.
