9/11 Kite for Peace

Postby Don Losee » Fri Sep 10, 2010 6:01 pm

9/11/2001 Jacked me up. I lost a close friend at the WTC, and have lost a few Marines who were sqadron and FCT team bros in the resulting War on Muslim mislead, freaks. Come kite DCBB as expression of freedom and peace tomorrow. No need for flag waving or ceremony. Be Free. And remember all those Marines out there in the Afghan mountains and in Iraqi towns making a stand.

DC looks like the call today. Look for the standard late Summer 2-5PM thermal
in the 7.5/14M range.
Precisely!

Good turnout of poleboarders at DCIB including John Dubock, Steve Nyhus, Dave O, Pete Larson, Rob Smith, Mark Jackson, Shawn Henderson, and probably a couple I'm forgetting. One kiter rode up from Barbed Wire (Jim Hornbeck, I think, but I never got close enough to make a positive ID.) Started out a bit gusty, but filled in nicely, and was, as Don says, "hair blower" for about an hour.

Tons of footage of DCIB poleboarders. I think I counted 7 on the water at once! Post labor day we easily out number the motor boats. And even on a Saturday! You have to love DC in the fall. Wind turns up, boats stay home, and the canyon colors start to pop.

Sorry the shots are not so good. I'll blame the lens. "objects may be closer than they appear" While filming I could tell who was who, but not looking at the footage.
