Snowkiting season is open

Postby windzup » Sun Nov 06, 2005 9:12 am

The Snow has hit and this is the second weekend of good riding conditions at Skyline. Yesterday turned up a foot of pow (not much base underneath) and 15-20 mph winds for epic sessions all day long. Sizes ranged from 3-7 meter foils for most, and a few pulled out the bigger kites for some airtime. At least 10 riders were on the snow and we thoroughly tracked up the majority of Boscos hill. With cold temps and more snow in the long range forecast, we should have good riding conditions up there for the next 6 months.

For as early season as it is, and for how thin the snowpack is, the rides so far have been unbelievable. Fully powered over pow, what else is there?

Check out this link to Kiteforum for a couple of pics from Saturday. http://kiteforum.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2321547

See you on the snow soon,

Brian,
What dates are the Ozone freeride days at Skyline this year?
One in Dec, One in March?
The new DVD is great.
Where can someone get it?

Is Chasta coming to town again this year?
He is unbelieveably good,
I could watch him at Skyline for hours.

Jon and I were at Skyline Wed (11/12) rock dodging
I went up the hill, but not enough snow to stay there
rough, and to much brush, still fun!!
The tracks there were probably yours?

Hey Marty,
The Skyline dates are the first weekend in Dec and the last in March. Rob Whittal, one of ozones designers is wintering in Utah now and will be here testing next years kites all season. Chasta and the Euro crew will likely be out this way more towards Feb-March.

There are two new DVD's one from OZ and one from Fuze. The OZ one is a great all around vid, while the other one focus's on Kitesnowboarders. It does have an epic Chasta/Skyline session that I've been watching over and over. We are talking to the folks at Brevies and we will try to hold a video release night there, if it happens I'll let yall know.

Yeah, there is still some rock dodging, and the whole place isn't open yet, but there is still plenty of room for good rides at Skyline. It could be some of our tracks from last weekend, or even Ryan and Chris tracks from Monday.

Todays forecast is for East at 15 st Skyline, so I'm heading up to check it out and fly the new 06 kites. If the wind holds, it will be a perfect direction for riding all of the wind blown powder stashes that hide on the lee slopes.

Good day for pictures anyway, so i'll try to take some.
