KITEBOARDING HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

Postby windzup » Sat Jan 07, 2012 4:32 pm

Ironically, the same week I recieved a Windsport mag in the mail containing an amazing photo of a race in Europe, featuring 500 windsurfers roaring across a start line... the news rang in that the final issue of Kiteboarding mag was on its way. Confirmed on facial book by the editor Aaaron Sales, its a farewell to a very biased kite mag. I say biased as they only recognized and published news from brands that paid heavily to be part of their mag, and completely ignored non-advertising brands.

The final issue arrived today with its best snowkiting article ever (no pun intended). The article featured sled accessed kiting in the Sierra Backcountry. After 10 years they finally feature an article up my alley... and then said good bye.

Despite the funny bumpersticker I adorned on several snowboards that Real Kiteboarding (now known as Real Watersports) passed out at a trade show years ago, claiming,'Windsurfing has been Cancelled'... It seems Windsurfing as a sport has out grown and out lived Kiteboarding. Kiteboarding has been cancelled.

Funny I thought.

Hey Brian,

Windsurfing Magazine also defunct (http://www.iwindsurf.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23829). All that's left of wind sport Magazines in the Americas is, as you say below, WIndsport (the Canadian windsurfing mag).

More a sign of the times for Print Media than anything (I think). If the advertisers don't see
a return on investment, they stop paying for the mag.
