I am not a kiter, but at the very least come up for Saturday night. This year we are trying to add some non wind activities to the weekend - Friday night we are going to watch some video in the pavilion via dvd projector. Saturday night we will be cooking up some more crawdads. Last year's cajun crawfish boil was a pretty big hit.
Whatever thou art, do well thy part.

Constance,

Doug Cox came last year and apparently got some pretty good rides.

Maybe Doug or Todd can chime in on this.

I kited there a few times. last year me and doug kited. doug is by far a real good kiter, he was jumping the island. i was in begining stages, mowing the lawn on my 9m. IMHO it can be a difficult place to kite if you cannot keep up wind, or if you drop youre kite in the water allot. also you have to be able to read the wind, you do not want to be in the middle when the wind gets one of its famous holes that come through. water can be cold if you are swimming with youre kite. there is a cove but it usually has a wind shadow. if you had a chase boat you could brave all these obstacles. I have a rule that doug kinda told me about, if it is 9 meter kite it. I plan on trying but will play towards the side of wanting more wind than less. none the less it is a fun weekend that all the higher ups, too many too name, put together. I look forward to hanging with other windriding nuts like myself. 8)
plus there is wyoming beer, and rick makes a mean cajun crawfish boil that should not be missed.

My family and I will be coming up Sat. and staying the night. Friday if the winds look good. I'll be bringing both windsurfing and kiting gear. Sounds like a fun party.

Doug, I'm glad to hear that you will be making it to the campout, now that we pushed it out a week! Wow.....bringing windsurfing gear too, that's cool. Hope Marty can make it too? Hey if one of you can, bring your favorite kiting dvd, to entertain the kiting crew, that would be great.

Also If anyone is willing to pull a small fishing boat up to Sulpher, we have one to use as a rescure boat or to put out bueys or whatever. We just need a way to get it there, since we already pull our travel trailer. So if someone is willing, let me know, and we will arrange something. Sounds like it's going to be a fun time

Good news,,bad news,,
If Doc say's knee is aOK and I can kite that weekend,
I'm going to the Gorge.
If not, I'll be at Sulphur.
I'm sure we can get some DVD's up there either way.

Hi Constance, Yes, yes bring your dog, I bring mine, but please try to keep an eye on them, and clean up after them. That would be greatly appreciated. We've had some issues in the past, the neighbors little ducks got eaten in the middle of the night, very sad story. My little dog even got in the buffalo pen, and attempted to chase them around,..... he didn't get them to move much.

Anyway I think the dogs have more fun than anyone. See you there.

I guess Im newish here, but Im definitely interested in coming along. I have some friends (2) that might come as well but dont have any gear... do think there is any possibility of them getting a hold of something to get them out on the water.

...also im not the greatest kiter, I can handle snow pretty easily, but I sort of gave up on the water kiting as it is harder to find good enough wind and is a bit more out of my element

Spence,

There'll be a few beginner rigs there... And I'm sure somebody will be more than willing to give a lesson or two if it's not blowing 5.5! ;)) (btw I added a few useful smilies)

Newbies, knobs, beginning kiters - Sulpher is a challenge for a kiter. The launch is tight and difficult. The wind is gusty and holey. The water is cold. Think of DC with some bigger holes in the wind and water that is 15 degrees cooler and you get the idea. However, unlike DC if you go downwind at Sulpher, the hike back is a long one. If we have a north wind on Friday, Lincoln is going to be your best bet for good rides.

However, if Wyoming beer and partying with the poleboarders sounds fun, please don't let me rain on your parade

Kenny does not endorse drinking beer and partying but does endorse kiting. In fact he preaches it. I endorse all of the above. Billy endorses just about everything "as long as you are happy."

Yeah, I preach kiting, but I think it is even more important to practice what you preach! Glad to be back on the water again.
