Craig's Where to Ride 8/25

Postby Craig Goudie » Mon Aug 25, 2008 7:43 am

Windy at many South wind locations today. Grantsville is showing 24-28 right now, and that's pretty
fine 5.0 -4.5 conditions. DC looking good from 2 PM on in the 7.5-6.5 range. Mona
should provide PM 7.5-6.5. Sulfur PM 7.5. A chance for some MM19 6.5 early evening.

Tomorrow looks like premium North Kite boarding at UL launches starting around Noon
with 12M the most likely call, but the South end of the lake may dip down clear to 9M
by early evening. DC will also come up South around 11AM in the 6.5 to 5.5 sail range,
but will deteriorate quickly to Strong gusts and huge holes by about 3 PM.

Tuesday looks like a classic Pineview Kite day.

Any idea what this means for Saratoga or Provo Boat Harbor? Earlier at Saratoga, later push at PBH? Does PBH come under the same general effects as SSB/Lincoln?

Is this the wrong place to ask since we are trying to minimize replies to your posts? Where would be best to ask such questions?

Is this too many questions all at once? Why did I have to work today instead of going to G-Ville? Will the Dodgers win the pennant?

Thanks. Sorry. Thanks again.

Hi Carl, I moved your question here, because every time you post to my forecast it goes
out to all the PDAs that are enabled to receive the forecast.

If you're asking about the South wind today at PBH, or Saratoga Springs, my experience is
that there won't be much. Maybe some 11M sail stuff from the South, unless
it's thunderhead driven when it might be 3.0-11.0. On a South PBH and Saratoga Springs
always seem to be lighter than MM19. On a North, Like tomorrow, I'd bet PBH gets about
a meter less wind than Saratoga Springs, or ULSSB or Lincoln. Many is the day when
a light North wind in the SLC valley translates to Kiteable conditions at Lincoln,
when there's almost no North wind at PBH. Once you get past about 15MPH from the North,
I think it pretty much evens up all over the lake except for the NE corner where it always
seems to be light.

The best place to ask this question is the main message board.
It's not too many questions at once.
You worked today because somebody has to pay for all those yards of cloth you use.
And the Dodgers will never win the pennant.
