Twisted snowkiteboard!!!!

Postby Marty Lowe » Mon Sep 08, 2008 3:48 pm

The new snowkiteboard developed in our backyard for our conditions.
The snowkiters that have been on the prototypes were floored by the great feel of this new concept.
Water kiteboard feel on the snow, no more edge surges, and burning legs.
First run is very limited, I've ordered mine befor they sell out.

The boards will be available in the next month, you can purchase them through Cloud 9 or www.kiteutah.com, email Windzup for purchase information. Cost is $450.00 retail! There are a limited number of boards in this first production run and we are getting a lot of interest from across the country and internationally already..... so interested parties should secure their orders soon.

Really interesting. Reminds me of the Lib Tech Banana Hammock. I'll bet either will ride really nice with a kite. And 300 bucks cheaper! Go Brian! Wish I had 450 bucks. :(

Yeah, I checked out the 08 banana hammock online already. Spendy.
Backcountry has it listed for $660 http://www.backcountry.com/store/LBT0105/Lib-Technologies-T-Rice-Banana-Hammock-Snowboard.html, but the pics look the same with the obvious graphics being the major difference. I guess the hammock is listed as a 160cm, but they both have a completely new shape for a snowboard. Any other differences Brian? Could be a cheaper way to go to get a nice pow board for the winter when the wind isn't blowing! You get the best of both.

Aside from both brands offering boards with non-traditional shapes, there is quite a bit of difference internally as well the design briefs are completely different.

This shape is obviously a winner in powder conditions, and Lib followed that mentality completely adapting the shape, length and stiffness into an ultimate powder board. The Twisted had less input from gravity and focused more on how the board felt when a rider is powered by a kite. Several details then come into play, especially considering that a kiteboard needs to be valuable in multiple conditions, not just powder. With the Posi Side cut there is less effective edge, so more length was required to give the board better control on harder surfaces. The result is a board that feels big in powder, but rides like a smaller board on hard pack.

Lib has focused there reverse camber in the center of the board, with most of the rocker between the bindings...then staying flat out to the tips. More rocker in the center is good for rolling into transitions, like a wakeboard. The Twisted has more of a three stage Posi-Rocker, carrying the curve all the way out to the tips. By carrying the rocker out farther, the board tracks straighter, yet when you initiate a turn the entire board carves consistently. This is also due to the flex and stiffness of the Twisted, it has a moderate stiffness to allow the board some torsional flex. It gets techy from here.

If you are only downhilling in powder, go with the Lib, if you are kiting more with your board, you will appreciate the subtleties of the Twisted. What I can say is riding this shape is DIFFERENT. It is NOT like a normal snowboard, and it takes some getting used to if you have a background riding traditional decks. But it is fun to ride and feels more like a water kiteboard than a snowboard. I think it will be a great all around board for new Snowkiters, possibly making their first season more enjoyable and easy.... and it will be a second deck for advanced Snowkiters that need to be dialed into all conditions.

More to come soon..and snow I hope.

Wow... Looks like somebody is on to something good! Talk about wild fire. I've used skis so far cuz I suck at snowboarding (newbie), but the posi-cut is very intriguing.

I'm with Rick, I also Suk big time on the snowboard. But the snowboard has definite advantages over skis, IMHO, especially when traversing uphill, ie not having to turn up the hill, although, looping the kite makes this much easier. My kness are shot so nothing to agressive on the skis, twisted knees just worry me. However, on the water, I let it all hang out, possibly, that's why I'm where I am today, but anyway, I can't wait for a more 'twin tip' type ride on the snow.

This is the best snowkite board shape to ever be produced.

Ride one or be left behind wishing you were riding one.....

that simple.....

The banana hammock is not even in the same sport let alone the correct shape.

Just got one too. Like Jon, my knees would be killing me after kiting with skis. So excited. Just need boots and bindings now.

I like the rear enty bindings,
like K2 Cinch and Flow brand.

Clickers clog up with heavy snow,
I didn't like them.

Thanks Brian for the detailed info. Looks like the board to get for kiting. Way outside the box of a normal snowboard. I was hoping this would be a cheap alternative to the Banana for pow days riding the lifts. I know my lift time keeps getting less and less each year with most the time being spent kiting. Might not even need a resort board this year. Much more entertaining with a kite!

That Awesome Windzup/Ozone decide to come out with similar concept (Rev sidecut/Camber) of my boards I was riding last Winter. Rob Whitail was asking me a lot of questions about the boards I was using and how I like it. It's cool see that everybody is talking about the concept. Billy and I got the first Lib Tech banana Ham boards at the beginning of the season last Winter. THE BOARD ROCK on all the terrians ( ice, hard pack, deed powder). I was able to ride better and easeir then the standard snowboard. The Standard snowboard sidecut and camber is not part of my board quiver anymore.

That Suck that Lib Tech banana Hammock price jump. It used to be $459 last Winter.

I'm looking forward to see what everybody think of this Twisted board.
