Great news from Powder Mountain

I have some positive vibes to spread..I had a great conversation with the Mountain Manager of Powder Mountain today, and he extended a warm welcome to all Snowkiters this season. He wanted me to pass along that the resort is pleased with the new user group and are looking forward to extending their hospitality to the Snowkite world again this season.

In addition to last years Super Fly Open, the mountain is happy to announce that they will be working together with several manufacturers to host Snowkite product demos throughout the winter, and again hosting the Super Fly Open in March.

Ozone has committed to host a few demo days across the state in cooperation with KiteUtah.com...part of a monthly campaign to promote Snowkiting in Utah this winter. Ozone will be offering free lift tickets to early registrants for the Pow Mow Demo Daze...dates to be announced shortly. Participants will have the opportunity to Snowkite at Powder Mountain with a site orientation, learning the ins and outs of the area, and then will have a full days opportunity to kite with the latest winter equipment under expert instruction.

It is a great asset to our winter community to have such a gracious resort looking for opportunities to promote Snowkiting... especially when so many resorts only believe in gravity... (Pow Mow welcomes kiters, and I hear Alta is still only for split boarders )

Les- What are the chances of POW MOW grooming the majority of the kiting area just prior to the event? That would be insane. The wind affected snow last year was gnarly. Last years event was killer btw. Thx- Jason

No you still have to buy a ticket.

Shouldnt speak for others but, I think Brian is making it easier for those who "dont buy lift tickets" to still come out and have a good time at Pow Mow. I'm stoked Brian is investing some of his experience and time up here promoting snowkiting, cant wait to fly some kites I havent been able to afford lately, namely a manta. One day, I'd like to see a demo day where we can fly an ozone kite, then an HQ kite, then a SS, Eclipse, and Best kite. Set skiers/boarders up with trainer kites, while the locals have a good time while showing off the sport. Not sure the kite companies are ready for this just yet, but this is a great start. Also, it's difficult to get Utah'ns up here because there are so many other places to ride. But if anyone can do it, windzup/kiteutah can.

Anything is possible, that's the interesting thing at Pow Mow. Last year we got blasted with snow up until the first day of the event. We had planned on doing alot more out there, but just couldnt get it down due to visibility and snow. This year, we moved the event to March 13, 14, 15. We are hoping this will allow us to do alot more snow work, Pow Mow feels they'll be in a better position to provide more support. Also, during the event, we only had the passenger cat to move snow around, not so good for "grooming". Next event, we know we need one of the other snow cats to form jumps better, smooth the approaches, and possible groom a larger area. It should be epic, but you never know when mother nature is involved. Thanks for the kudos btw.
